I am not surprised.

Post by Lucycatnaps on Sat May 10, 2014 11:38 am

Hi everyone,
The postman has just been with a letter stating I have been given an appointment for Tues 13th May to see the rheumatologist at 9.15am.  This is my 6 month follow up/check from last November.

However my long awaited endo appointment which was sent out in February is..........Tues 13th May at 9.00am.

Surely their computer systems can identify a clash?????????   There is nothing I can do until Monday morning ( the day before) and will have to ask them to rearrange it, but more to the point is unless they find someone else to take that appointment at short notice, it will be wasted.  This new system of sending out an appointment immediately before is ridiculous.  How do working families arrange the time off to attend???

This is not the first time  this has happened, last year I had an appointment arrive the day before but they say it stops people forgetting.

Ohh well, I've vented, that's life, hope you all have a better weekend, really windy here and rainy, hope it brightens up later.

Hi Sue, yes I agree, how infuriating!  I can't see the rationale behind "it stops people forgetting"?  In my NHS Trust area we still get appointments in advance so plenty of time to make arrangements etc, then to "stop people forgetting" they send a text reminder a couple of days before, and those for whom they don't have a mobile number get a phone call reminder.  Simples .......!

I had a text reminder for my appointment before I had a letter! As it was for a couple of days later I had to ring the ward to check all the details only to get home and find the letter waiting for me. It was a good thing that I had tho cos it was badly photocopied with a handwritten addition that I couldn't read!

I'm guessing Sue that it won't be the endo appointment you change:-)
