Seeing Mr Palazzo Empty Seeing Mr Palazzo

Post by Lucycatnaps Mon May 19, 2014 12:50 pm

Hi everyone,
I rang the endo secretary this morning to clarify the contents of the Rheumatology letter stating I was being sent to Addenbrookes for a neck biopsy.  She has printed the letter off to show to my endo when he next visits sometime next week.  She has not seen my notes so cannot tell me what was actually written.  As regards to referring me to Hammersmith,  she explained  they are at least 2 weeks behind with referral letters plus she is on holiday from Thursday of this week , so nothing will be done for quite a while and not to expect anything soon.
I have rung Mr Palazzo secretary and now made an appointment for this Thurs teatime just for a consultation as this neck lump is really worrying me.  I see oral next week for my post op follow up of dredging of salivary duct and I am wondering if I should go ahead and get a FNA of the lump.  I have my Dexa scan at lunchtime Thurs so it will be a rush to get down to London.  I have been asked to bring all my blood test results.  I hope he can give me some answers as right now I just feel my anxiety is building ever higher.

Sue that's great that you've taken a proactive approach and arranged a consult with Mr P but isn't it bl***y marvellous (NOT!) that we have to resort to shelling out our £s just to try and make some sense of it all, join up the dots and make some progress, and all whilst feeling wretched and just wanting someone to take some responsibility for helping us to get better and feel well again!  Grrrrrr.......! Still, needs must I'm afraid ..... don't I just know it!

Hope it goes well on Thursday, Sue.  Mr Palazzo is a lovely, caring and compassionate man.  I'm hoping to hear back from him myself this week as he will have the results of all my recent tests.  Are you seeing him in his consulting rooms at Princess Grace hospital off the Marylebone Road, or at the London Endocrine Centre?

Interesting that you are seeing Mr P the same day as Tigerlily is seeing Dr Levy!  Looking forward to reading some positive posts at the end of the week!

Yes, absolutely, Jasmine - I'm doing my paperwork for Dr Levy (aka 'thesis') now!

Well done, for taking action, Sue, to see FP.

Have you been following Nancy's posts on the forum about her neck lump? She had an op in the US last week and a 9cm thingy was removed which had been hiding between the carotid artery and the jugular vein. She will get the pathology results next week. She is a nurse and one compassionate lady and I'm sure she would be happy to compare notes with you, as you seem to be having similar symptoms.

Will post asap at weekend about consult with Dr Levy, as we are going on from there to see the recently refurbished Art Deco Midland Hotel overlooking Morecambe Bay.

Love from Tigerlily xx

Thanks so much Edwin for moving me, I didn't realise until later that I had posted in the wrong bit.
Thanks Jasmine and I sincerely hope he has some positive news and answers for you and that he can help to find a cure and get you well.  Heaven knows you deserve it.  I am going to see him at the Princess Grace consulting rooms.  I think the last straw was this morning when the endo sec said she is way behind on referral letters plus going on holiday so my referral will not go off  for a while.  I guess I want an informed decision on whether to have this lump/swelling needled to find out what it is.
Tigerlily, I wish you good luck as well for Thursday and hope that you too will get some answers and progress is made.  Have a safe journey northwards and I hope the weather is good at the weekend for you.  I too am typing up my history to take with me on Thursday.  I have relevant bloods since January to take with me, I called into my GP surgery this afternoon to see if they will print off the two letters from consultants to GP ref my MRI and US results, she has to ask for GP to ok it.  They cannot get actual reports as the hospital have those.  Thanks for all your support everyone,  it may not be apparent but it really does make a difference.

Best of luck Sue and hope you get some answers.

I know what you mean about the support from everyone on this forum: it really is phenomenal and makes you feel so much better that there is a collection of people who genuinely understand and care. I had a particularly rubbish weekend and though I didn't feel like posting on the forum, it's great to pop in and feel the support.

It must be a busy week this week then! What with you and Tigerlily hopefully getting questions answered on Thursday, I have my Endo appointment on Wednesday!

Love

Couldn't agree more, Brigitte.  The support on here is fantastic and I honestly don't know how I would have survived the past year and a half without it.

Good luck for your appointment on Wednesday, let us know how it all goes.

Good luck everyone with your appointments this week I look forward to hearing all about them.
Sue I'm glad you are seeing Mr P so quickly but like Jasmine said its a disgrace that this has to happen in order for you to try to get yourself well.
Hope he starts you on your road to recovery.

Sue, not sure if you got it or not but I PM'd you to share my experience  of getting to Mr P's clinic in case it's of any help.
