Re: Prunes for bone health
Tigerlily thats that's very interesting. I can eat them dried but not the ones in a tin in juice yuck.
I remember being force fed them as a child in custard, now I love custard with anything but those wrinkly brown things floating around in it, it makes me shudder even now.
Would it make any diference to bone density if we suffer from PTH or does that just cancel out everything we do to correct it.

Oh Edwin, now I really won't be able to eat a prune ever again.... mind you it's a reasonable description given how horrible they taste! I remember being force fed them too as a child to keep me 'regular' ..

Poor poor sheep
Didn't have a sheep so I thought a pig would do.

Re: Prunes for bone health
Never heard that one before, but I can see the similarity!!
These days I can actually manage the tinned ones and the lovely squishy Californian ones that come in a bag, but I remember that gorgeous bright yellow custard (god knows what was in it to give it that colour!) we had at school, too. Used to just have a plate of that without anything else. Blow the prunes!!
Not sure whether the prunes would help HPT-induced bone problems, Amanda - good question.

Yuk, I hate prunes, but almost feel obliged to try them now! And fancy bringing up that vile yellow school custard, Tigerlily! I feel quite ill with the memory! It always had a hideous thick skin on it too. Eeewwww
Talking of bones, I had a DEXA scan yesterday. When I was measured, I found I've lost 2 inches of height in the last few years. Where's it gone?! Perhaps I'm weighed down with worry or something...

Re: Prunes for bone health
Nice one, Brigitte, about "bringing up" the custard!! Must have just had a good batch at my school!!
Sorry to hear you've shrunk - it does happen with ageing. 2" seems quite a bit, although vertebral discs probably flatten somewhat with age as well, and we're generally not as plush and plumped up as we used to be!
Let us know the DEXA results when you get them.
