And then there was something else!

Post by Brigitte0 on Mon Jun 16, 2014 10:24 pm

Hi All

Do you think that pHPT brings you so far down that you think you just cannot cope and then the bits of your body that aren't affected go wahaaaay, what about me? Or do you think that because you're so down anyway, other things pop up because you're so very low? There's the plantar fasciitis which came up so I can hardly walk, which is not "supposed" to be connected to HPT but is tainting my life anyway. There's a considerable bump of extra bone growing on top of one of my wrists on the pisiform bone which one doctor thinks is a ganglion; no it's not, I've had them before and this is different. Another doctor is not concerned, but my Chiro is because it's come up within a few weeks and he thinks it should be looked at. I suppose I can ask the physio next week since he's supposed to be a hand/arm specialist. Then blow me, this weekend has knocked me out by my discovery of a lump in my breast. I didn't really think it could be anything sinister bearing in mind that it came up quickly and could have some relationship to endocrine problems ongoing or just because these things happen to lots of women my age. But why oh why does it have to happen now, when I'm practically crawling on the floor with pains everywhere, depression and brain going crazy. I had to go for (another) blood test today and got an appointment to see a doctor whilst I was there fortunately. Well she did think it was a more likely to be a cyst because it had come up quickly and was quite large, but she did have to point out that vitamin d deficiency has links with breast cancer. I don't think I'm capable of thinking in that way at the moment though. I seem to be beyond weepy and crying and just sort of what now? And plod on. It's like my emotions don't know what to do or maybe I'm becoming immune because there are so many pains in so many parts of my body there's no need care because it's sort of an armour in place. Oh look at that, it's a different pain, well wait at the end of the queue and you can have a turn later. It was bad enough sleeping before, now I can't even lie down properly.

But hey, pain is good so I'll be referred to the hospital and go on to have a mammogram and whatever happens then. I'm collecting appointments in different parts of the hospital where I've never been before. I should take out a season ticket for hospital parking Wink

I'm sorry this is another whinge but sometimes I really don't know how to cope anymore. I'll be brighter tomorrow and I might regret being so whingey to you all but at least I know you'll understand. Thanks for listening.

Love and hugs
Brigitte xx

Brigitte I am so sorry, talk about being kicked when you're down! I guess everything is affected because everything is supposed to be, as the endocrine system regulates the whole body. That's why I get so annoyed when people talk about "mild" cases when there's no such thing.

Forget the season ticket, you should get loyalty points (tho what you'd get at the end I'm not sure "you have earned this beautiful, one size fits all, comes in every colour as long as it's white, hospital gown"!).

Whinge away m'dear, we're here for you xx

Hi Brigitte,
I struggle sometimes to find the right words to say, my brain often goes on holiday when I need it most but just wanted to say I know how low and down all this makes us feel.  I have nowhere near as many mountains as you are having to climb but I do know that the constant day after day pain and worry is extremely debilitating and stressful especially when you feel tired out and exhausted from lack of sleep.  Everything you have said I can relate too, but like Meggy says we are here for you, it is not whinging saying how you feel and it is good for the soul to let it out.  I so wish there was an easier quicker way to sort all of us out and I genuinely believe many doctors have no idea how much we suffer with this.  I just wanted to say you are not alone and we all walk with you and the sun is shining here too.  I hope you get some answers sooner rather than later.
A big gentle hug from Sue x

Thanks Sue and it is actually good to let it out and tell people who do actually understand. I hope you climb your current mountain sooner than later too! There's always something, isn't there?

Hugs and love

Hi Brigitte

Oh no, a lump on your breast thats terrible. Its really scary when this happens, not had one myself but my daughter had and it turned out to be a cyst, so I hope it is the same for you.
I have suffered from plantar fasciitis on both feet at different times and I know how painful it is and how bad it makes you feel.
I suffer from Rheumatoid Disease and the plantar fasciitis is common with this disease as its caused by inflamtion.
I know what you mean about the hospital appointments as I now attend three different clinics for three different things. Also I think I have been in every hospital in Glasgow for different scans, xrays and MRIs and now PTH.
Sorry you have so much to cope with.
Sending you a big hug.

Hi Brigiette,

So sorry to hear your feeling so bad and i understand everything you are going through!

This Parathyroid disease and its symptoms can some days bring you to your knees and i am sure the breast lump on top of everything else must be scary and exhausting.

What i try and do is take one is take one day at a time, some are good and some are bad, i just try and hang on to the positive even though some times its very hard to find!

My friend found a breast lump last year, she had it investigated and it turned out to be a cyst so i hope this reassures you.

Take care Brigiette.xx

Thank you Mary and Diana, it's lovely to have your support and I do appreciate it. I'm not too worried about the lump because I'm at a good age for it to be a cyst. It's just another pain. I have an appointment at the hospital for investigation on 30th June so it's all in control. I've got a DEXA scan next week. Apparently they only do the spine and hip. I am a bit disappointed about not doing the wrist because both wrists are really painful but never mind; I could have carpal tunnel again!

It's one of those rubbish weeks, but the sun keeps shining and you can't look down all the time and be miserable because the good bits pass you by! Some days are harder than others, as you say, Diana!

Thanks again for hugs and reassurance Smile

Thanks Lozza, Kathi and Tigerlily

It's all ups and downs, but it has been a lovely weekend with my sister making a surprise visit for my birthday. Mind you, I'm so shattered now and everything aches - even my toe joints are in agony which is weird. I'm going to limp off to bed in a moment.

Thanks so much for being there.
