4D CT imaging
This is a really interesting video from UCLA about the use of 4D CT imaging which has advanced the success rate in finding PT adenomas in unusual locations. They're doing it at the Hammersmith, in fact FP has indicated it for me once FHH is ruled out (please .......!), but not sure how widely available it is throughout the UK.

Re: 4D CT imaging
Hi Jasmine,
I found this video extremely interesting, as i have a PT adenoma in the chest, hopefully now FP has my referral, i might have to undergo 4D CT imaging, who knows? it's a awful waiting game!!
Thank you

Re: 4D CT imaging
I might just ask my endo about the 4D you would think that UCSF would have one. May have to google it. I know they have a 3D not that it did me any good.
Thank for the info. Kathi

Jasmine I think that would be a very useful tool for FP in finding your rogue adenoma, it's like looking inside without the incision. Good old Hammersmith. Do you know if he does pituitary surgery ?

Not sure about that Amanda as pituitary adenoma has only recently hit my radar, but he's an endocrine surgeon so I would imagine he would. Or would a neuro surgeon do that surgery, although the pituitary gland is not strictly speaking in the brain as it sits just below it. In any case, I would imagine that if he doesn't a colleague within his service will.

Re: 4D CT imaging
I think he has a whole endo team at his disposal at the Hammersmith, Amanda - and I'm banking on someone being able to rule out a pituitary adenoma for me!
Time for you to join the FP club, girl! It was £250 for a private consult (got the bill) at which you could (probably within 2 weeks) lay it all before him. He then wrote back to my GP telling him to refer me back to himself (FP) on the NHS - that might solve your problem with your GP, if FP tells them it would be in your interest to refer you back to him and his expert team at the Hammersmith.
See how ya go - Love from Tigerlily xx

Thanks Mrs T
I've got a whole load of info to get together and this week I fully intend to do just that and then contact him for his opinion. Is the FP club like the Tuffty club ???

Re: 4D CT imaging
Great plan, Amanda, we'll all be meeting up there yet.
As well as the sub-periosteal bone erosion that you can get in your hands from HPT (Google: Imaging in Hyperparthyroidism" for the paper) you can also get:
"tuftal resorption" of the fingertips --- soooo, er, YES!!

Re: 4D CT imaging
Oh, interesting, Amanda - "loss of outer third of eyebrows" - I seem to recall that's a visible sign of low thyroid function.
The book by Janey Bowthorpe "Stop the thyroid madness" is a good primer, as is "Your thyroid and how to look after it" by Dr Durrant-Peatfield. I think there might be a stopthethyroidmadness website as well.
Keep drawing 'em in, girl, until you get 'em back!
