Thank you.

Tbh I just feel like my head is all over the place at the moment. I had my
MIBI yesterday and my U/S is Tues next week. Apart from the usual symptoms, fatigue, headaches, tummy issues etc I've suffered palpitations for years but they are constant at the moment, sometimes it's extra beats and sometimes it feels like missed beats. I have had sweats for nearly 2 weeks and also caught my sons cold last week, which is better but I cannot shake the "cold" feeling. I've had my Thyroid tested lots of times, my Mum is Hyper and although my results have never been out of range, my TSH has been low normal & normal and my FT4 high normal/normal. I feel like my insides are going hyper all the time, I can't relax and when I try it feels like my insides are somersaulting! I have broken sleep but then I do have 2 children or I'm tired but takes me a while to nod off. Since I had the MIBI yesterday my throat in the Thyroid area feels scratched. I also had an elevated Thyroid Antibody in Jan but nobody seems bothered?!
I just can't switch myself off from health problems, I constantly worry about past CT scans etc and I just feel like I've turned into a irritated, impatient moody c*w and it breaks my heart as it's not me!! I can't stop worrying about ill health! I'm only 31 and feel like I've lost nearly 2 years of life!

I suppose I just wanted your advice on the Thyroid too, does it sound like a Thyroid issue too?

Sorry for the negativity xxxx

Hi Lucie

Sorry to hear you are suffering so, especially in this heat. It sounds to me as though it might possibly be Hashimoto's Thyroiditis where you can swing between hyperthyroid and hypothyroid.

That was my initial diagnosis. Sometimes I was going like a train, and sometimes I was totally wiped out. And I had some thyroid antibodies show up but they were also ignored!

The cold feeling is often caused by the low body temperature that is a hallmark of the hypothyroid state.

Nelly and Edwin and others probably have more to say on thyroid issues that will help you. The palpitations and sweats are a bit of a worry, though. Have you mentioned these to your GP?

Hang on in there, Lucie, and someone else on the forum will try to help you soon, I'm sure.

Love from Tigerlily xx

Hi Tigerlily

The GP has been aware of palpitations, my Mum suffered with these terrible before she got diagnosed Hyper. I've had 2 Holter Monitors with no concerns, the sweats feel like those "time of the month" but I don't have any night sweats or anything but I suffer from those when it's time. I'm going to see my GP on Monday x

Good to see the GP about the palpitations, Lucie.

The sweats we sometimes have to live with! Especially this weather.

Off to have another shower myself!

Let us know what the GP says next week.

Thank you. I also have a positive ANA result twice, could be Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, I will talk to the GP about this.

Do you have any thyroid test results, past or present ? Palps and ectopic beats are not important if you have ruled out heart issues, even with heart problems Cardio docs are not usually worried.

If you have antibodies it can indicate an autoimmune problem, need to know which antibodies were high.

Hashi will cause you to swing from hyper to hypo but if your results are all in normal range it will be very difficult to get a diagnosis.

Do you think anxiety could be making you feel worse ? Might be worth talking to your GP about it.

Are you seeing your Endo again after your scans ? Unfortunately if all tests come back "normal" it can be a long old slog to find the cause of symptoms, thyroid and parathyroid seem to be the most difficult of all  Neutral

Stick with it and keep pushing the docs until you get an answer.

A positive ANA is not useful for thyroid disease diagnosis, it is more to do with connective tissue disorders and there are many, so a positive result on its own is not going to tell you much.

Sorry writing this in between feeding the menagerie !

Thyroid antibody tests are anti-TPO and anti-Tg.

Your ultrasound next week may check size of thyroid and if any nodules are present.

It was Anti-TPO that was tested and it was literally borderline. I do have all my results but will take a while to post  Laughing

I have had 2 Thyroid Ultrasounds, the first showed a very small Cyst and the 2nd time around it showed 2 small cysts but I will ask lots of questions next week and hopefully get more info if I need to keep an eye on these.

Lucie, when I had my parathyroid surgery, Dr. Lopez also removed a thyroid nodule. I guess a lot of us with parathyroid tumors also have thyroid nodules. It would be nice if all surgeons would remove those nodules while they were in there taking care of the parathyroid problem.

I have Hashimoto thyroiditis. It does seem like many of us have issues with multiple endocrine glands. Darned glands!!!
