Voice Box Specalist

Post by bombersforever on Thu Jul 24, 2014 10:04 am

Hi all,

back from my holiday to the US which i survived quite well only had a few heavy, heavy symptom days so the month long holiday was pretty much awesome..... since returning i've been super lethargic and achy in my joints.... i have a surgery date now.. September 4th..... my latest blood tests in have my calcium still high and my PTH levels high also...and the endo has also put me on Vit D tablets also as my levels are low.

But i have been booked in to see a Voice box specialist about 2 weeks before surgery, i was just wondering if anybody else has had this and what does the voice box specialist visit entail?

hope your all hanging in there ok xoxo

That will be to have your vocal chords checked before surgery. After spraying local anaesthetic up your nose they use a tiny camera via nose to throat to look at the vocal chords and check they are working ok.

Its really quick and not as bad as it sounds.

Hope it goes well

It's not bad. I had 2 of them done in the past. The only problem I had was that my bone structure is such that the opening was very small, and the camera had a bit of trouble passing through. It wasn't bad though. The ENT doctor said he had never seen such a small opening in an adult's nose. It figures. Seriously though, it wasn't bad at all.
