Hi Audrey

This is a useful paper posted by Jasmine and on page 4 it mentions renin and aldosterone in some detail.

Not sure if it's relevant to your case but it links these quite clearly with chronic PTH elevation.

Hope all's progressing with the peeing!

Love from Tigerlily xx

Thanks, Tigerlily! I don't have time now, but I will take a look at this.

I haven't started the peeing yet. I was planning on picking up the jug and the cup tomorrow, but I am having a terrible time with my ears here, and I don't know if I'll feel like going out tomorrow. I was going to take care of the actual tests next week. The woman at the doctor's office told me to have all of the tests done 4 days before my appointment. I'm not sure why she said that, as it takes 7-12 days to get the results! I don't think it would make much sense to get the tests done 4 days before the appointment, as the doctor wouldn't have the results at that appointment.  scratch

Hmmm......yes, I have read that all of these hormones and enzymes are related to one another in some way. Our entire endocrine system must work together in sync or everything seems to go haywire, as with mine! Each of our endocrine glands is able to totally screw up other glands. In my case, my thyroid, parathyroids, and adrenals have been affected. The excess fluid in my body from the underactive thyroid had now involved my kidneys, which in turn has affected my adrenal glands. At least, that is the nephrologist's theory. We will see if it turns out to be correct, but it all makes sense.

I think he is still wondering how the heck I had 2 parathyroid tumors without having osteoporosis or even osteopenia or without having kidney stones. I guess the only patients he's seen with HPT have come to him with kidney stones, so he is under the impression you must have stones to have HPT. I guess he learned something new when I was there.  Smile  I should have told him my ionized calcium was never elevated, and my albumin and phosphorus were no help either in diagnosing me. What a freak I am!!

No, you must be the exception that proves the rule, Audrey!

They have to take you seriously because you had enlarged PTH glands.

You are getting somewhere now - hang on in there, Dr Aud!
