Growth hormone increases calcium excretion
I read a paper today which states that growth hormone increases calcium excretion in the urine, so wouldn't it follow that low levels of growth hormone would correlate with low calcium excretion numbers? I shall be discussing this with Miles Levy when I see him next week and hopefully will have another weapon in my armoury against FHH.

Re: Growth hormone increases calcium excretion
Interesting article Jasmine, I'm now torn between thinking great that may mean that my raised growth hormone was just a blip and what does that mean re my low urine calcium out put.
I'm still sure my low calcium excretion is due to the fact that I'm taking a high dose PPI. There are several articles on the internet which say PPI's do lower calcium urine output. I did mention this to Endo but she ignored me !!!!

Jasmine, you do find interesting articles. My low calcium excretion was supposed to be connected to my vitamin D deficiency, but that was ages ago. Your file against FHH must be impressively large now and I hope all your research strengthens your case.

Also significant for our IBS sufferers - from item 9 of Jasmine's paper mentioned above:
Advancing age and intestinal inflammatory disorders inhibit absorption of calcium 07/24/14 By- Professor Namrata Chhabra (MD Biochemistry)
So IBS will also inhibit Ca absorption, maybe?

Amanda - have you had another blood test yet for Growth Hormone?
It could have been just a blip, as you say. A run of a few tests might rule this out if other tests were lower.

I had the glucose suppression test 4 weeks ago, this apparently will say yey or nay to pit problems but....... With Endo having a lovely time on her hols I haven't had result, when I rang secretary she said she wasn't qualified to comment.
I have sent email today asking for result and latest blood results as well.

Very interesting, Jasmine! Yes, I do think you should have quite a collection of material by this time to help those doctors of yours to make a correct diagnosis. Now you just need to get them to look at the material or listen to you when you speak. Let's hope they have enough sense to do so, and they soon determine just how to make you well again!
Amanda, of all the research I have done, I did not realize PPIs can lower urine calcium. I wonder if maybe that's why both of my urine calcium tests were normal. Hmmm...........
And I do hope you get those test results soon. It would be nice to be able to rule out a pituitary problem. It amazes me how the medical professionals seem to not understand or care how important those results are to us. It amazes me that they don't care more about their patients who are suffering so terribly. So sad.
