Brother in law may have hyperparathyroid.
My BIL has a elevated calcium level 2 years ago, I told him to keep on it but he never did nor did his P.A. He changed doc's and this new one said " hey your calcium a little high" So now this doctor is sending him for more labs, His calcium has been 10.2 and recently 10.4 . He doesn't have a lab slip as I guess they do it electronicly [sp] so he is not sure what he is testing for. His potassium was high normal and doc did mention that also. I'll post more when I get more info. Any thoughts? He has classic symptoms fatigue as number one.

Kathi, does he have any PTH levels to go with those calcium levels? I had a level of 10.2 immediately preceding my surgery. I had a PTH of 62.5 at that time. I also had a calcium of 10.2 immediately AFTER surgery. PTH at that time was 26.8. So having calcium at 10.2 may or may not be a problem, depending on the PTH level.

Audrey, he had lab work done on Monday repeat on the calcium and they did add the pth intact. He doesn't go back to the doc till the end of sept. grrrr I did look at your post where you listed your labs, thanks for that, even though I won't not wish this disease on anyone. I do hope it is something that can be cured. We have all noticed bad brain fog with him and lots of fatigue. I was talking to his wife yesterday [ my hubby sister] he was going to do his labs and he couldn't find his wallet. She was like oh my gosh here we go again. He is 70 and was always active and very smart. He also diabetic but it is controlled. Thanks for the response, I guess you can tell I am worried for him. xxx Kathi

Keep us posted on his levels, Kathi. Hope you/he can access the results sooner than is next doc appointment.

Hi Kathi,
It sounds like his new PA is going to give him a good checking over,
I hope they find the cause of his raised calciums and that he doesn't have to wait for ages for the results.
Take care,

Kathi, it does sound like they are going to get to the bottom of your brother-in-law's issues. It sure does sound like HPT. I am very interested to know his PTH level when it is revealed.
You are quite welcome for my list of levels. I know when I was trying to get diagnosed, I was always wanting to compare my levels with someone else who actually had the disease. I figured I have a lot of levels now to share, so I hope it helps someone.

Kathi, hopefully your brother in law is heading in the right direction for getting a diagnosis now. It would be interesting to find out what his PTH levels are. I hope things will get sorted out in the near future.
