Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Hi All
Well just to make me feel even more crap, the gods seem to have decided to throw everything at me. I have either got food poisoning or plucked up a sickness and diahorrea bug. Since yesterday morning I have been very unwell I have just stopped being sick this morning but can't eat anything as the other end is awful. I had to crawl backwards and forwards to bathroom all night, at one point I just put a towel down and laid next to the sink & toilet, thank god we have an ensuite I don't think I would have left bathroom all night otherwise
I weighed myself just now and I have lost 4lbs since Friday! I can't even drink tea.
Feeling even more sorry for myself than normal
Fed up FED UP & EVEN MORE FFFFFFFFEEEEEEEDDDDD UUUUUPPPPP.
LOVE Amanda xxxx

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Ohhh my gosh Amanda!
You poor old sausage, you have every bit of my sympathy as D&V is really really miserable. Firstly, have you taken any dioralyte sachets to stop you getting dehydrated? It sounds like you have picked up a really nasty bug and the sooner it is on its way the better. You must be feeling exhausted as well but it will help to get some fluids into you. Also Immodium is pretty good and maybe buscopan if you are still having stomach cramps. I hope you are feeling a whole lot better now, but try and get some fluids into you.
Big big hugs,
Sue x

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Thanks Sue I'm taking the dioralyte sachets and trying to drink water but as soon as it goes in it comes out again (sorry) I try to avoid Imodium as it usually makes the stomach cramps last longer, I will try buscopan, the stomach cramps are awful, almost as bad as going into labour.
I'm shattered I'm wrapped up in a big teddy bear throw, with jumper n socks on and I'm still shivering.
Thanks for all your thoughts n hugs, I'm sending some wobbly ones back. Xxxxx

Oh, Amanda, you poor thing! Sympathy multiplied by a million and loads of very gentle hugs. If you're not better by tomorrow, at least consider ringing the emergency doctor for advice. You can't carry on for long in such a state, bless your heart.

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Oh Amanda, that's horrible, I know just what you're going through as I went through a phase of getting stomach bugs pretty regularly and I absolutely dread it happening, my worst nightmare! The D & V is bad enough but the cramps are unbearable. Touch wood, I don't get them so often now but I found that the only fluid I could keep down and which actually helped in any way was sips of flat white pop (lemonade); whether it was something to do with the sugar in it with the bug zapping my blood sugar I don't know but it worked for me. I never take any medication apart from co-codamol for the pain, for me it seems better just to let it run its course but it's bl**dy miserable! I feel so sorry for you! Then the next few days are spent feeling exhausted and like you've had a herd of buffalo stampede across your belly! Hope you soon feel better, bless you, it's a killer I know ....keep on with the dioralyte though, at least it will help to re-balance your salts and minerals.

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Thanks Jasmine
Ive just poured out some lemonade and will let it go flat before I try sipping it. I'm not feeling so sick now but everything else is just as bad. But I'm craving a rich tea biscuit So as soon as I'm feeling better I'm gonna crack open a packet yes a herd of buffalo, gnu, elk, impala and any other big furry 4 legged creature has not only stampeded across my stomach but I think they have done the fandango, Argentinian tango on it as well.
The cramps are deffo the worse.

Oh, dear, Amanda - so glad you are feeling a little better, but sorry to hear how bad it's been.
Yes, Buscopan for the cramps and dry toast or a Rich Tea if you manage it.
Keep warm and as well hydrated as you can manage, and hope tomorrow it's much better.

Oh Amanda, that is awful. (((hugs to you))
If you can't keep anything down maybe you'll have to go in for an IV.
Can you also have either some coke with the carbonation stirred out or 7-up with the carbonation stirred out?
I hope it is a bug and that it is over as far as the worst of it.
xoxo, Nancy

The D and V can raise your calcium level so if your not getting better like Nancy said you might need an IV. Hope not, and hope you feel better soon. Hugs Kathi

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Hi Nancy & Kathi
I'm feeling a bit better this morning, still getting awful stomach cramps but no sickness now and I've not had the big D since about 12 last night. I've even managed 2 rich tea biscuits mmmmmmmmm I'm hoping I'm over the worst of it and will be very glad when I don't feel like I'm going into labour with the cramping.
Thank you to everyone for their kindness.

Hi Amanda,
I am so glad to hear you are feeling a little more human this morning. It will take a while to recover fully, rest and fluids are on the menu today and maybe if you feel hungry later some soup. I like the Swiss Bouillon stock powder if I feel a bit off as it is all natural and makes a lovely hot drink.
Lots of hugs,
Sue

Take it easy Amanda; your poor body must be shattered. And keep up with the fluids. It's great to hear that you're feeling a little better, but don't do too much too soon. Take care of yourself.

So glad to hear you're feeling a bit better this morning, Amanda. It sounds as if things are calming down a bit. There must be something you need in Rich Tea biscuits for you to have fancied them!
I hope you continue to improve now.

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Thanks Ladies, feeling bit better but shattered, trying to dry my hair as I haven't washed it for a couple of days uck but I keep having to sit down as it's making me feel dizzy but mirror is too high to sit and do it.
Don't say leave it as it's naturally curly/wavy and I hate it. I haven't left it natural unless on holiday in a humid place and I can't keep it straight !!! for years and that was only when curly perms were in !!!!
I will feel more human when it's done even if it takes me an hour.
At least I'll be clean and tidy bit pale though.

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
I've been busy these last few weeks I'm just catching up with everyone's news. So sorry to hear you've been suffering Amanda and I hope you continue to recover.
I had an awful stomach bug 18mths ago and although the worst of it only lasted a weekend, I was wiped out for weeks and started getting headaches and nausea after physical exertion. It turned out my ferritin was 9. Depends on the type of bug, but if you do have residual issues it's worth checking out if it's affected your ability to absorb other nutrients particularly iron (as well as our standard Ca/PTH/vit D)
Love and cyber hugs,
Dee

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Hi Dee
I already have to have ferritin infusions every 6-12 mths last one was in Dec 13 so I think I need a blood test to check. It was 97 in Feb but it can go as low as 3 and then I feel pretty bad.
Still feeling pretty crap (pardon the pun) and cramps are doubling me up, even with buscopan. It will pass......

Amanda,
Glad you are feeling a little better. Can you have some broth? Maybe the salt would help a little.
No wonder you got a little dizzy. Your BP might be down some after the fluid loss.
Try to rest. You have certainly been through enough. The parathyroid alone is enough.

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Thanks Nancy
I'm still feeling poorly but it's been a quiet night stomach wise so I'm keeping my fingers X'd. I'm trying to keep up my fluids but with an emptyish stomach it's making me feel a little sick. I had half a cup of clear chicken broth yesterday and if my stomach stays quiet I'll try some toast later.
It has made me feel quite emotional and I'm having trouble keeping back the tears. My Daughter Emily went to Ibiza on Saturday and rang me yesterday to see how I was, I of course told her I'm fine but after the phone call ended I had a real cry. Even silly things on the tv are setting me off. I must be low.

Re: Just when I thought I couldn't feel any worse!!!!
Of course you're low Amanda, your defences have hit the bottom and you're weak through being sick etc. When you're already low with the blasted HPT, your poor body has taken a battering. You won't be ready for sit down comedienne fame for a while; you need to build yourself back up slowly and gently. Don't expect too much too quickly, but if you can manage to eat a little and keep up with the fluids, you'll gradually feel stronger and soon be astounding us with your wit and hilarity!

Sending healing hugs through cyberspace Amanda, take good care of yourself and try and rest and rehydrate as much as you can. Your poor body had been through such an ordeal when already debilitated so needs a little TLC now. And tears are healing and good for the soul so let them flow ........
