Has anyone had balance problems and vertigo attacks ? just wondering if I can blame it on hpth or it's something else.

Yes Nelly, I have.  What my hubby calls my funny turns  Mad  They mostly happen at the most inopportune moments, like in the middle of Tesco ..... I get dizzy and feel like I'm pitching forward and have to find something to grab hold of (thank goodness for supermarket trollies - carts, Audrey  Laughing ) feeling like I don't know which way is up!  I feel like I'm wobbling all over the place but hubby assures me I remain upright and still - unless I'm slumped over the trolley!  When I saw the ENT surgeon to check out my vocal chords prior to surgery I asked him if I might have a problem with my ears because of the balance thing and he said if it was inner ear problems I would actually be falling over, as opposed feeling like I might, so I made the assumption it was connected to the PHPT as I've heard others saying they have dizziness and nausea - I get the nausea too, although fingers crossed I haven't had any since my surgery.

Yes I also suffer terribly with dizziness and just as Jasmine has described the feeling of falling forward happens to me regularly.  The nausea also happens but thankfully not as much.  My balance previously was good so I am putting it down to HPT.

Thanks Jasmine and Mel

I've had it on and off for a few years, several times it's happened during the night and once in the evening when i had been on the computer for a while but tonight it happened when I was in the quail shed bagging up shavings, I was bending down and had looked to one side then bang it got me and I did fall over thankfully into the bale of shavings ! only lasted a few seconds whereas before I've been spinning for a few hours.

In the past the GP said it was Labrynthitis but I'm not convinced, I have made an appt to see GP on Tuesday so will see what she says, not expecting much !

I've had a pretty off balance week and am still struggling to sit here typing, seems looking down is not a good idea, hope it is hpt and it will go.

Well it's good to know I'm not alone in having this but not good that any of us have to endure it, I know it's common with thyroid disease as well so I guess having both doesn't help  Crying or Very sad Thanks all
