Surgery could be on the horizon Empty Surgery could be on the horizon

Hi, been sitting in the background just trying to get through the daily routine, you know what I mean as I know you have all been there or still are.

Finally got my results today from my second MIBI scan which showed a subtle focus of activity on the right side of the neck, not conclusive but I suppose with my blood results, bone scan etc amounts to me going on a waiting list for surgery. Apparently they have a eight week waiting list, I`m relieved and scared.  But what if I have the operation and my paras look normal? Has anyone heard of this before?

I cant focus enough to keep track of where everyone is with their "journey", I hope you are all well and I apologise for not following each and everyone of you. This lack of concentration / memory seems to be one of my worst symptoms and I`m surprised that I've not had the sack yet!   confused

Take care, rest and relax x

Hi Mel

Is that 8 weeks to see the surgeon or 8 weeks to the op ?

If you haven't seen the surgeon yet then something to ask him but its a bit of an unknown until he gets in there for a look. He will want to be sure there is a rogue one before diving in.

We all approach surgery with some degree of trepidation not knowing what the outcome will be but if you have a good surgeon you have to trust they know what's best.

Keep us posted

So glad you're slowly inching forward Mel and making some progress towards surgery. Yes, sometimes you just have to take a step back from it all and just 'be'. I have to do that quite frequently to allow time for my energy levels to come up a notch and my motivation to return. My get up and go regularly gets up and goes.......

Keep us posted Mel, looking forward to hearing some positive news.

Thanks Nelly and Jasmine, approximately 8 weeks until surgery. Before surgery I will have a pre op and vocal cord check so I will have time to ask questions at these appointments. I just keep thinking that by summer I could be back to my old self who I and I know my friends and family miss dreadfully.

Love the hearts by the way.

Take care x

Great to hear you are nearer to that cure Mel, 8 weeks isn't long and means your scar will be nicely healed by the Summer.

8 weeks to surgery will fly past, Mel - that is a super result!

I had the same subtle indication of "something" of the right hand side of my neck on the MIBI, but they couldn't classify it as a PTH adenoma. I only wanted to have the operation once, so I insisted that they do a 4-gland examination whilst they were there. Good job I did, because they removed 2 enlarged glands from the right hand side as well as the large one seen on the left on ultrasound.

Might be a good idea to ask for a 4-gland examination when you next speak to someone.

I'll scan in my MIBI report and email it to you for comparison if you PM me with your home email address.

So glad things are moving for you. Hang on in there at work. You'll be a new woman when you've had the op!

Love from Tigerlily xxxx

Sounds like things are moving right along for you Mel! That is great! It is awful that anyone would have to wait that long for surgery when feeling so ill. I often wonder how long a doctor or surgeon would be willing to wait for surgery if THEY were this sick. I'm just happy yours is all lined up now! That day will arrive quicker than you think. So happy for you!
