Hi Corina,
Glad to have you join us! I haven't been on here for a while. I am just now trying to catch up with everyone and everything.
I too agree that it takes several months for levels to normalize after surgery. I was VERY disappointed to learn that my calcium was exactly the same shortly after surgery as it was just before surgery. The difference was that my PTH was only half as high after the surgery. Eventually, over the next several months, the calcium did drop.
I have a lot of symptoms, which I was blaming on HPT, but since they have not resolved, I am now wondering if they might bey thyroid related, as my calcium and PTH still look good. However, just to be sure, I just recently convinced my endo to check my calcium and PTH in 3 months time, instead of waiting for 6 months or longer. She hesitated, but I explained that I had to wait for 3 very long years for a diagnosis the first time, and if there is a chance there is another tumor developing in my neck, I am NOT waiting another 3 years for another diagnosis!! My calcium and PTH are not LOW. They are acceptable, and I want to keep an eye on them!
I don't recall reading how long it's been since your surgery. I am quickly reading through things here, so I may have missed that. It does, however, take months to completely heal, so give yourself some time.
I am in the US, so I am of no help recommending doctors, etc., but I am here if you need me for anything else. I will be 18 months post-op tomorrow.
Audrey

Hi Audrey,
Thanks for your message! It's does make me feel better that I migr be cured then and won't need another surgery. It's only over a month now since I had it. I do feel so much better some days, but then I get a hit disappointed when I wake up bad again. I'll be positive about it though. I am quite happy with the surgeon I saw last (Mr Fausto Palazzo), he really seems to know what he is talking about. People on this forum very kindly recommended me to see him
I'm really sorry you still feel some symptoms. Hopefully you'll have it sorted soon!
Thanks for being here (even if you are far) and give so much help through the forum.
Hope you get well soon!
Love,
Corina xxx
PS: sorry if there are some mistakes! I'm struing to write while me little one is also playing with me!
