Quality of life ......
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/515959
This is a really good paper which refers to health related quality of life with hyperparathyroidism - and it's been around for NINE years! So why the heck are the medics not taking notice!

Pft - not sure you'll be able to open it without registering with Medscape.... I'll try and find a way to repost it.

You can actually register with Medscape, quick and easy and it's great for those of you who like to do the research.

Jasmine just letting you know that the link took me right to the page. No need to register. I am going to read the whole thing later as I have been busy helping out my mother in law, and it is taking a toll on me.

Re: Quality of life ......
Jasmine,
I had seen this article a short while ago. I agree with you, it is a good one.
It's validating for us to see these things in print. I am amazed when some people don't have any symptoms but yet have high calcium. Some of my symptoms have improved a fair amount since my surgery in May.
Glad to see Hadleigh is going to include this in the reference section.
How are you Jasmine? I hope you are not feeling too bad.
Thinking of you,
Nancy

Re: Quality of life ......
Hi Nancy, good to hear from you! So glad that some of your symptoms have improved, that is good news. I'm pretty much the same, not much has changed, some good days, some bad and some very grim - standard for this wretched disease grrrrr.......! Not sure if you had a chance to see my previous posts as I understand you've been having problems accessing the forum, but I tested negative for FHH thank goodness, and now waiting for Fausto Palazzo to arrange 4D CT and selective venous sampling. I keep trying to go forward, as we do .....

Re: Quality of life ......
Thank you Jasmine, a really interesting and relevant paper. It is a shame some endo's do not seem to be able to keep abreast of new developments or change their outdated thinking and thus their patients suffer. I have news which I will post in a separate topic showing yet more ignorance and incompetence.

Re: Quality of life ......
This is also interesting, Jasmine. If I have understood it correctly ( ) it seems to be saying that there is a possibility that patients with double adenoma in whom hypercalcaemia persists may actually have had a type of PTH gland hyperplasia in the first place, and so further enlarged glands might be there to find.

Well funny you should say that Tigerlily because my thoughts have been turning towards hyperplasia lately .... I'll give it a read and comment later.

Re: Quality of life ......
Oh, god, Jasmine, I do hope it's not that, because that might lead one to think of MEN1, which is what I'm looking at for me at the moment with all my lumps and bumps. Patient.co.uk has some good info on MEN1 - sorry!

Re: Quality of life ......
Well, with everything that's going on you do start to wonder - and Miles Levy did refer to it in a letter to FP. God, I hope not too ..... not going there unless I have to ......
