Re: Thinking of you today Jasmine
Aw thanks Kathi, so kind of you to be thinking about me.
Before I go any further can I just say, Nelly and Edwin, when I first hit the button to reply I was re-directed to a porn site. I resisted the temptation to stay and take a peak and returned here instead (and I just chose my words very carefully there, having deleted what I first said when I spotted the double entendre ..... )
Anywaaaay, Kathi - venous sampling was a doddle, don't be anxious about it, a little bit of local anaesthetic and you really don't feel the catheter going in. I could feel the pressure, and a kind of 'snick' as each sample (24 taken in total) was withdrawn from the catheter, but no pain or discomfort whatsoever. The hardest part was trying to stay awake laying there....!
So- my procedure was in two parts. Because of the complicated state of my neck anatomy due to three previous neck surgeries including thyroidectomy, I also had to have parathyroid angiography, as well as venous sampling, to check out the blood supply to my neck and chest, see how it flows and where etc, particularly around the carotid artery area. For VS the catheter goes into the vein, for PT angiogram it goes into the femoral artery - ouch! It wasn't too uncomfortable, although it felt very strange each time the contrast was injected into different areas of my face, neck and chest. At certain stages I had to hold my breath for up to ten seconds while he took pictures but it was imperative to stay still and relaxed during this and the consultant radiologist kept getting frustrated with me because I couldn't not tense my chest and throat muscles whilst holding my breathe. In the end a nurse had to keep putting a peg on my nose which panicked me at first but it did actually help. The hardest part was actually afterwards when he put his fist in my groin with so much pressure to try and seal the artery that it did hurt a bit, and then I had to lie flat on my back with complete bed rest for six hours so the puncture wound in the artery didn't open up. Today I feel really tired and my groin is a bit tender but all in all, the two procedures really weren't too bad at all. The end justifies the means ........
Hoping to hear early next week from Mr Palazzo with his decision based on the reports.

Well really disappointed we didn't get to take a peak at the porn site all working as usual here. Edwin thinks whatever device you are using could have been hyjacked. If anyone else has a problem let us know asap.
Glad today went ok, look forward to an update soon.

Hi Jasmine,
I think you have well and truly earnt a star or two for being a fantastic trooper and getting through all your tests and I bet you are well and truly glad that it is over and that they will find it. I am sure you must be feeling shattered tonight and hope you manage to sleep well at home. I would hate having to lie on my back for 6 hours. Good luck with the results next week.
Take care and hugs Sue x

Wow Jasmine I am
glad that is over for you. The nurse I talked to did say they were going in the femoral artery, she said afterward they will put something that might feel a little heavy in that area to make sure there is no bleeding. So 24 samples in all, that is pretty good. Jessica Ann on facebook is going to have it done also I think the 22nd. She was wondering about angiography being she had 3 failed surgeries. She thinks she is just schedule for vs. I mentioned my UK friend was having that very producer done as we speak. She also would love to know more about the angiography. I didn't tell her who you were, but if you get a chance can you let her know if you don't want to post on facebook maybe pm her. I feel really bad for her. Jasmine I just have a real good feeling about the outcome of this. Hugs to you Kathi

Hi Jasmine
You are a very strong woman going through all you have and still resisting the temptation to take a sneaky peak at the porn site;)
Good job the artery was sealed as well or you could have blown a fuse
So glad it's all over and hope FP get back to you really soon with the good news.
Lots of love n hugs Amanda xxxx

Well done, Jasmine , for getting through all of that. God, how did you manage it?
But as you say, the end justifies the means. So glad to hear you got home alright on your own.
Have a good rest this weekend and let us know the minute you hear from FP, as we are all in suspenders about you (that was a shameless reference to the porn site ..... sorry!).

We're thinking of you Jasmine. Sounds like they really know what they are doing.
I know about the pressure, not first hand, but over here they use to put a sand bag over the area for a while to make sure there was no bleeding going on from the puncture of the artery.
Sending all good thoughts your way.
xxx, Nancy

My goodness, Jasmine, you deserve some sort of medal for all you've been through!! Maybe the HPT medal for bravery? Geez, that all sounds awful!! I am so glad you did so well with it all! I can't wait to hear the results. I do hope you are a few steps closer to that final goal of surgery AGAIN. I think you also deserve the entire herd of reindeer for this!
