Post disappeared
Hi the Admins!
I've just posted reams of stuff to mealinacup, pressed send and it disappeared! I think because Audrey was posting at the same time as me. And she say mealinacup was posting at the same time as her, and her original post disappeared as well!!

Re: Post disappeared
Just a thought but do you all 'preview' your posts before hitting send? I do it all the time as my foggy brain often makes me write gobbledygook which makes no sense to anyone but me. If you preview it and another person has just posted in the meantime, when you press send a message comes up to say there is a new post in the thread, do you want to read it and modify your own post? Apologies if you already knew this.......

Re: Post disappeared
To be honest I've had a cr*ppy few days with abdominal problems (oops! no poo joke intended.....), aches and pains and soooooo tired, and yes, I think sitting in the sun for a while on Saturday probably exacerbated my symptoms so it's strictly shade for me now for a while with just a quick five minutes sunshine now and again to give my D just a tiny boost. Mine isn't terribly low anyway, borderline low normal. I'm actually sleeping a little better though so that's a bonus so I'll be grateful for that for as long as it lasts.

Have you lost any posts while using preview, or only when using send?

Re: Post disappeared
Hello everyone
Until I receive a sensible answer from the forum support people, please can you use "preview" and "send" instead of just using "send".
Let's see if this makes any difference. If it does, then we have something specific to throw back to support.
Thanks
Edwin

Re: Post disappeared
From experience on another forum if you take a long time to write a post it will often disappear into cyberspace when you post it. I have trained me to hit the preview button on a regular basis so this doesn't happen.
It's all to do with this parathyroid disease which slows us down and for me writing a message took a long time to get the thoughts in order. It still does but not as bad and now I just put it down to senior moments.
Take care

Thanks Rosie
It did occur to me overnight that maybe this problem was more to do with long posts and not multiple posts at the same time.
The next step is to see if the problem is the length of the post, or the time from when the post is started to when it is sent.
So, I have created an experimental topic and would appreciate it if members can spend a little time to help with finding the answer.

Re: Post disappeared
The forum help peeps have asked what you see on the screen immediately after you click "send" when your replies disappear.
As far as I know, there is no error message, but I cannot remember if it shows the most recent reply, or something else.
They have asked for a screenshot of what is on the screen after clicking "send", but I appreciate that this may not be easy.

Re: Post disappeared
Thanks Tigerlily
I suspect that the problem is triggered by a combination of things, which is why it is difficult to replicate.
I will try some simultaneous long posts with Nelly later this afternoon.

Re: Post disappeared
It didn't work, Edwin, as you will have guessed!
I tried "host an image" with a .pdf, a .jpeg and a .doc of a screenshot of what I see after pressing send and before the message comes up that my post has been successful, but it woulodn't accept the file formats.
No worries. I'm sure you'll sort it out. I'll use Preview in future.

Host an image will only work with image files, e.g. .jpg, .png.
.pdf and .doc are document files, so it will not work.
Host an image is very fiddly to use. Each time I use it I forget how it works and have to spend ages trying things until it works ;-)
Please can you attach the file it to an e-mail and send it to admin (view my profile and select the contact tab)?

Re: Post disappeared
Hi All
I realise that this is a bit of a long-shot, but it will be appreciated if those of you who have experienced the disappearing replies can let me know the topic, dates and times when you experienced this.
This request is from the forum support team to give them some pointers on when and where to look.
I have trawled through the forum and found some if the instances, but i did not find them all.
Hopefully, some of you can remember which topics you were replying to when it happened.
Thanks
Edwin

Update
I have given the support folks a list of dates, times and posters for recent disappearing replies.
Hopefully, this will give them something to investigate.

I have not given-up on trying to get this problem fixed, but it has proved to be impossible to replicate.
I spent a while on Monday posting at the same time as the top Forumotion support bod (Buttercup).
Many of our posts were at the same time and no posts went missing.
I am now wondering if it is only long posts that go missing.
I think that our HPTH forum has HPTH

Yes, it must be one of those punk PTH goblins playing the guitar!
I think you're right about the longer posts going missing. I'm copying mine to the clipboard regularly whilst I'm typing them as well as doing the preview.
Have a good weekend, Edwin and Nelly.

Re: Post disappeared
Thanks Tigerlily.
We wish you a good weekend as well.
We are in a thunder storm with very heavy rain showers at the mo - preparing the ground at the nearby Glastonbury festival, which should be a nice shade of mud soup now.
Can anyone else who has experienced the missing reply post syndrome please let me know if this only happened with long posts?
Edwin
