Surgery Date!!!
Hello All
Yesterday I had a phone call offering a surgery date due to a cancellation, which was a bit of a shock, but I figured it would give me less time to worry too much. So I have a pre-assessment next Monday and the op will be on Saturday 27th I have various hospital visits next week, including an Endo appointment, so I think that gives me ample opportunity to reiterate that it's imperative to check all glands. Otherwise, I will just write a new clause onto the consent form
Love and hugs

That's just wonderful news, Brigitte, so please for you!
Dogs, and to you! Yay! Yay! Yay!
Great idea to write new clause on the consent form, too.
Celebrate! You'll be fixed for Christmas! Keep us posted on next week's developments.

Re: Surgery Date!!!
My surgeon only does ops at Southmead 1 day a week and he is in high demand so non urgent people like me get pushed out. The wait time was 3-4 months but it's now 7 months and counting. Just hope I don't get there on the day and they say my pre assessment is out of date as that was done in June watch this space !

Re: Surgery Date!!!
Wow Nelly, I'm so pleased for you since you seem to have been hanging around for ages. I'm not convinced it will actually happen either, but then the glass is always half empty these days Last time I had to have an operation, I was there for 12 hours when they told me that the surgeon had been called away to A & E and it wouldn't actually take place! Me of little faith
Thanks for your good wishes Jasmine, Tigerlily and Nelly. Onwards we go!

Re: Surgery Date!!!
I do so hope it all happens for both of you, Brigitte and Nelly, as planned.
Keep some seats warm for us at The Ritz, as it looks as though you'll be the advance party - "party" being the operative word!!

Re: Surgery Date!!!
Nelly - that's an awful thought about your pre-assessment forms being out of date by 2 October ........... can you do anything to prevent that being a possibility? Perhaps ring the surgeon's secretary to check?

Re: Surgery Date!!!
Thank you everyone for your good wishes. I have received all the details in the post today, which is a bit of a relief because I would have had to ring up and find out where to go for the pre assessment first thing on Monday morning. I've also got a follow up appointment for 6 October as well so that's everything sorted out now, I hope.

Re: Surgery Date!!!
Hi Nelly
Yes the letter says allow up to 4 hours, thank you. It also says to bring a urine sample; I thought they'd just ask for that whilst I was there but better to be prepared. It doesn't say to take a good book, but I think I might

Re: Surgery Date!!!
You won't have time to read a book, you will be busy answering the same questions over and over and over again I saw 4 different nurses and they all went over the same thing again. Then it's ecg,bp,blood tests, mrsa test, height, weight, pharmacist and anaesthetist except she had gone before seeing me
Take a drink and nibbles, you might need them.
