Blood pressure FINALLY increasing!!

Post by Little Audrey on Fri Sep 26, 2014 6:38 pm

Well, it appears that after dealing with extremely low blood pressure for 7 months, it is finally normalizing!!!!     I had not checked my blood pressure for a few days.   I decided I'd better check it today.    I still can't believe it!    The systolic pressure ranged from 100-114!!!    It was the diastolic pressure that almost caused me to fall off of my chair when I saw it!    It started off at 57.   I was thinking, oh here we go again.   I expected them to all be in the 50s and 40s like always.   I always check my pressure 10 times when I sit down.    You're supposed to rest for 10 minutes before checking it, so I figure by the time I take it for the 10th time, i will be getting an accurate reading.    It usually drops lower and lower while I'm sitting there checking it.   I figured if the diastolic pressure started off at 57, it was going to be another very bad day.   WRONG!!   The second diastolic pressure was 72!   Yes, 72!!!!!    So then I was thinking my machine must have gone bonkers.    I kept checking my pressure.    I had 3 pressures in the mid to high 50s, 2 in the mid to high 60s, and 5, yes 5, in the low 70s!!!!!     HOLY COW!     I guess my little nutty professor must know what he's doing after all!

I have noticed that my arms at times are not quite as weak as they have been over the past 7 months.   That is about the only improvement I have noticed with my symptoms at this point.    I have, however, noticed something else actually, which I am not sure if it is related to the increased blood pressure or not.    For the past 2 nights I have slept for 4 hours straight!    I have not done this more than a few times since my parathyroid surgery almost 11 months ago.    Normally, I am up every 2 hours to use the bathroom, and I only a total of 5 hours every night at the most.    I do something which is probably stupid.   I take my diuretic at night.   My doctors think I'm nuts.   I'm sure a lot of people do.    I like to take it at night because I hate having to rush for bathrooms when I'm up and about and busy doing things during the day.     I know I would probably sleep a little better if I didn't take it at night, but this is what I prefer.   I also would rather wake up with less puffy feet and legs to start the day.

I had skipped my diuretic for a couple of nights, because of this latest sulfa scare and also to prepare for upcoming bloodwork.    The first night I skipped the diuretic, I slept for 4 straight hours.    I figured I had slept better because I had not taken the diuretic, and I also had not used my CPAP machine.  I think I sleep better without that stupid thing!    Well, last night I DID take the diuretic.   I just couldn't stand being so swollen!    I figured I probably would be back to waking up every 2 hours to use the bathroom.   I was very wrong!     I slept again for 4 straight hours, used the bathroom, slept for 2 more hours, used the bathroom, and fell asleep for almost an other entire hour!!     I have not slept for close to 7 total hours in at least 4 years!!      I am now thinking maybe the newly increased blood pressure is helping me to sleep.

I have actually been more exhausted as time has gone one.   I just assumed my condition was worsening.   Now I'm wondering if possibly my body is now feeling more exhausted to try to get me to rest and sleep more, so it can catch up on all the sleep I've missed out on, so it can heal.    I'm not sure what to think yet, but since my blood pressure is looking better, I'm hoping it's all looking up for me at last!

It's a GREAT day!!!    Funny how just when you hit rock bottom and can't see anyway back up, everything starts to fall into place again.
