In hospital :(
First topic message reminder :
Well so far, the other side has all gone horribly wrong. Yesterday morning, I had what they think was a fit and came to hospital in an ambulance, (those things are uncomfortable). Had another seizure yesterday so am still here. I couldn't pass urine so a catheter is doing that for me. I had a chest x-ray at some stupid time of night and other than that I have no idea what is going on. And this phone battery will run out soon. I wish I knew what was going on
Love

I'm on my way, Brigitte has definitely suffered enough already...
But anytime you need some distraction, I'm available. Weddings, Bar mizvahs, etc. Give me a call.

Re: In hospital :(
Thanks for all the jokes and concern
Yesterday started off not so badly because I finally got a medical doctor instead of a Neuro who thought it was time I was tested for all sorts of useful things including calcium etc so I was very hopeful, especially when he took the silly Neuro away and conferred with her. Eventually she came back and she's a jumped up idiot, fond of her own self importance and reflex hammers She's very dismal and doesn't believe anything I say but said it was imperative that she spoke to my husband so I gave her his direct line number and told her to leave him a message. She never did because technology is clever and he can even tell when he has a missed call because someone is too chicken to leave a message.
The day went sloooowwwwlllyyyy and no one ever took my bloods; I got sick of asking but it never happened.
In the evening whilst Mr O was visiting, I saw Silly Neuro go by, so he hot footed it after her and I could hear him telling her he knew she hadn't tried to contact him. She blustered and told him she was too busy and ran away. Later on, a big important chap turned up with her slinking behind and he talked to Mr O. It turns out that he thinks I was never unconscious long enough to have an epileptic fit, so whatever "fits" I had were due to low salts, problems with having a wee and the after effects of a surgical operation (which he implied quite cleverly didn't have the appropriate after care)!! So, welcome back driving licence and independence, because I specifically asked him if I had to tell DVLA and he said no! So, as Jasmine would say, yay, yay and thrice yay (with sugar on top) and other celebrations
So today is a new day and hopefully I will be able to go home but I still have to see Dr Forgot-the-bloods because Big Boss Neuro was going to leave him a message.
The lesson is: insist on proper after care following your parathyroidectomy and trust not jumped up Neuros who think they're God.
Love, hugs and hope

Re: In hospital :(
Dear Brigittie,
So pleased they've confirmed it wasn't a fit but also absolutely appalled by the way you've been treated. They must have realised "The most common sign of hypocalcemia is what is called "neuromuscular irritability." Your nerves and muscles, which are directly related to blood calcium levels, may spasm or twitch." Though obviously dehydration, low salts or other minerals might also be to blame, I still think the very first thing they should have done is look at your bloods properly.
Thank goodness for Mr O being able to fight your corner. Hoping and praying for better doctors today and you being able to go home.
Lots of love and hugs,
Dee xxxxxxxxx

Re: In hospital :(
Well I've said it before and I'll say it again - yay, yay and thrice yay! I think Dr Norman was spot on when he referred to idiot doctors as goats and monkeys! He primarily intended it for clueless endos, but let's extend that to ALL idiot medics, starting with Ms up herself neuro! Give Mr Brigitte a hug from me for fighting your corner!
Onwards and upwards now Brigitte, put this behind you and concentrate on getting well and enjoying the feeling of being pHPT free.
Love and hugs

Re: In hospital :(
Really glad to hear things are getting better, what a shame the doctors have taken this long to get their act together, hopefully today you will be able to escape the dreaded hospital.
Interesting that the doc implied lack of aftercare, i am now glad to be staying overnight, at least i will hopefully get the bloods done at 6 and 24 hours post op as recommended, time will tell
Take care and wishing you a better day.

Re: In hospital :(
Thanks ladies.
Nelly, I really think you will be much better off than I have been since this whole experience is a Botch Job and you will sail through your parathyroid punk removal with the proper care! All the best for when the time comes - I can't remember when it is, is it tomorrow? Good luck and best wishes for a brilliant after care experience too!
Love and hugs

Re: In hospital :(
Hi Brigitte,
A lady stuck in hospital says to the doctor,
"Doctor Doctor, I can't stop singing the song The Green Green Grass of Home.
The doctor replies "Hmmm sounds like you have Tom Jones syndrome"
She answers " Is that common? "
He answers "It's not unusual" ..............
I hope you get your blood results soon and they get you sorted ASAP and let you home. I am just wondering have they mentioned tetany???? I suspect it takes a while for our bodies to readjust after having the adenoma removed and some dehydration on top does not help. Just sending lots of cyber hugs and get well soon!

Re: In hospital :(
I'm home after much hassle and paperwork and stress. Finally got home after 8pm so am absolutely shattered.
Thank you all for jokes, good wishes and much support, which I appreciated more than words can say. It's a lonely place in hospital.
Much love and many hugs

I missed this; probably because I went to bed early! A belated welcome home Brigitte! Time for some proper R & R now, take very good care of yourself and you'll be back on the road again soon, clutching your precious driving licence and shouting "yay!"
